ISO Tanks
Learn About ISO Tanks
Looking for a tank to carry bulk liquids, but limited on space? An ISO Tank may be the right solution for you! ISO tanks are a type of storage tank with an outside frame around a cylindrical tank. The cylindrical tank on the inside can be a variety of sizes to meet your storage needs. The outside frame of the tank, however, is always the same size which has its own benefits.
First, let's talk about the tank itself. These tanks can carry a variety of bulk liquids such as water, food products, oil and even sulfuric acid. These tanks can handle both hazardous and non-hazardous materials and are available with the option to be food grade safe. The contents can also be kept hot or cold with optional steam heating and cooling systems.
ISO tanks are usually made of stainless steel surrounded by protective layers and skins to prevent leaks. The cylinder-shaped container features a manhole and valve on top, along with an additional valve on the bottom for easy draining and cleaning.
What makes an ISO tank so unique? The frame. The outside frame of the tank offers many benefits. The frames are made out of steel and are a standard size at 20' long by 8' wide by 8'6" high. Since the frames are the same size, they are stackable, and can be easily mounted on a ship, train, truck or chassis for easy transport. ISO tanks can be easily moved from truck to train to ship without the need to unload or reload their contents.
ISO tanks can also be stacked on top of each other, which saves space on the job site. This is common on cargo ships transporting containers overseas, and on job sites that want to take advantage of storage space by going upwards. The mechanical frame is also locked into place to prevent the contents from moving and causing accidents.
On top of their advantages, ISO tanks also undergo rigorous inspection and certification. New ISO tanks are manufactured according to international regulations, then need to be inspected and re-certified at certain times. All of our available ISO tanks come with new 5-year ABS Certification upon order.
ISO tanks offer unique features that save time, manpower, and costs compared to other types of storage tanks. They are increasingly becoming the preferred method for carrying bulk liquids, both hazardous and non-hazardous.
